Customer Question

I have a 2014 Ford Focus with the 2 clutch auto transmission. Like other owm
JA: Has the clutch been slipping? Are you having any trouble shifting?
Customer: no, but when the car is warm or hot, the transmission shutters a lot in 1st gear
JA: Are you fixing your Focus yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I have done nothing so far. I would like to know before I give the car to my daughter who is attending college if it is a safe vehicle. Some owners online have expressed concern over safety issues with the car.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Why does a 6 gear trans like this one have only low and drive on the shifter instead of having 6 gears to shift?

Welcome, I'm Chris (aka Moose), my normal schedule online is around lunch and after dinner till early morning.

Is this your primary question )Why does a 6 gear trans like this one have only low and drive on the shifter instead of having 6 gears to shift?

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
I really want to know if a car like this is safe to operate, as i was planning on giving the car to my teenage daughter. It has only an awkward shimmy or shake in 1st gear, and only when it had been running up to and at warm ir hit temps.

Even though I do not like this transaxle coming from a Ford trans tech. I do feel like the car is safe and you should not worry about your daughters safety as she uses the vehicle.
