I got to work and put it in park. The key will not come out

Customer Question

Hey I got to work and put it in park. The key will not come out of the ignition and now the car will not start either. :-(
JA: Have you checked the battery, particularly the terminal connections? Are they corroded?
Customer: I have not checked battery but I will. Would that cause the key to be stuck?
JA: What is the model/year of your Ford?
Customer: 2010 Expedition
JA: Are you fixing your Expedition yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Nothing just happened
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: The key will not come out of the ignition and when I try to start it nothing happens. No clicking or anything . All lights come on and everything but it doesn't even attempt to start. I think it is that safety/ lock thing.

can someone help?
Expert:  Chad Farhat replied 8 months ago.

hey how are you

1- check battery for 12 volts

2- any security light flashing on dash while you trying to start it

3- do you have 1 or 2 keys for it

lets try this first

Master reset Procedure

1- Disconect Battery Cables ( Negative & Positive Cables )you can use any electrical wire as an extension if battery cables don't reach .

2- Hold cables Together for 60 secs ,then let go

3- Wait 15 minutes

4- Make sure all doors are closed

5- Reconnect battery Cables

6- Lock & unlock the vehicles using the key from driver door side (if you have a key fob with no blade key, just lock & unlock using the key fob buttons)

7- Enter the vehicle and attempt to start

Please let me know

Thank You
