Hello, does the automatic shift lever feel loose at all?

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
It's loose. The gear indicator is not lined up with PNRD. It's been that way awhile...So when it shows N your actually in reverse...When it's in park the indicator sits to the right of P. It has play it as well

On the back of the steering column there should be two golden torx screws for the manual shifter cable. You need to tighten this up and it should correct your concern.

Would that cause the truck to not crank? It did this two days ago, I left it alone and it cranked. Now this morning didn't crank again.
Expert:  James replied 9 months ago.

Yea it can cause it to not crank. To test it try pulling up on the shift lever and seeing if the vehicle will start. If it does that is your concern.

Pushed lever as far up and still wouldn't crank. Reverse lights work. I checked that. Where else should would be a place to check?

Do you have a scan tool that can monitor what gear the transmission is in?

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
No I don't, but the other time I got in truck went to start it wouldn't crank. A while later it cranked ran fine. This morning I went to start, cold morning. The truck turned over a cranked but didn't start. Usually takes two tries on cold morning. When I went to crank again, it wouldn't. This isn't a hydrolock issue is it?

maybe I'm misunderstanding you. So the engine turns over but won't start while cold?
