JA: Hello. How can we help?
Customer: 1) I have a 92 F-150....been sitting for a number of years. Would not start...so we dropped both fuel tanks...cleaned the tanks & pumps....still no start....could the fuel line be clogged to the shrader valve...if so could I blow compredded back to the filter( with the filter disconnected?
JA: When did you last fill the tank? And do you smell gasoline around the engine?
Customer: I only put a few gallons in each tank....and no I smell no gas around the engine
JA: Are you fixing your F150 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Replaced the front tank cleaned the rear tank...and disassembled both pumps...they work...replaced the fuel filter.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Nope

ok, can you do a fuel pressure test??? there may be old fuel in the lines and injectors.

does it have spark????

Roy

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
it has spart...I can get it to run by squirting gas with a spray bottle into the air horn.
Expert:  roy replied 8 months ago.

ok, you need to do a fuel pressure test on both pumps.

if you dont have a tester, you can rent one at a parts store

Where do I hook up the fuel pressure tester to the shrader valve??
Expert:  roy replied 8 months ago.

check for it on the fuel rail. if it is not there, you will need to T into the fuel filter

Is it possible I have a blockage of old jelled fuel in the line from the filter to the fuel rail??
Expert:  roy replied 8 months ago.

fuel does not jel. diesel will. gas will not.

if you think that is the issue, remove the rail and injectors and blow out the lines and clean the injectors with brake kleen

Roy

Hard to believe it is the injectors as I can squirt gas into the air horn and the truck will run....I am thinking a blockage or possibly the fuel pressure regulator went bad ....any thoughts?
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
By the way the pumps will pump fuel to the fuel filter location ( fuel filter disconnected.)

once again, you need to do a pressure test first before guessing.

it can very well be injectors. you are spraying directly into the intake manifold bypassing injectors when you spray.

yes, but you need a specific pressure for the injectors to work. thats why you need to check the pressure

OK I will give it a try and get back to you soon....tomorrow perhaps.
