JA: Where exactly do you think the noise is coming from? And how long has this been going on?
Customer: drivers side valve cover, for a couple weeks
JA: What is the model/year of your Ford?
Customer: 94 explorer
JA: Are you fixing your Explorer yourself? What have you tried so far?

What size engine are you working on please?

Was wanting to know if I have to remove the head to change the engine lifters.

Unfortunately if your going to need to replace the lifters they can not be removed with out having to remove the heads. I have enclosed the steps to do both in the links below. Have a look and post back if you have more questions and or need more help and we can work from there.
