Customer Question

What fuel modifications are needed to protect valves in a 1936 Ford flathead. I have rebuilt carb and fuel pump with modern gaskets and other parts.
JA: Is this your first time dealing with this issue? What size is your engine?
Customer: Irreverent - but it is a 65 HP flathead V8, like they all were in '36
JA: What is the model of your '65 Ford?
Customer: NOT '65 - IT IS A 1936
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: NON SEQUITUR - THIS IS USELESS. WE ARE NOT ON THE SAME PAGE HERE. CAN YOU ANSWER THE ORIGINAL QUESTION, OR NOT
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: NO

ok, when leaded fuel went away, also went the lube needed. thats when all the cars went to sodium filled valves.

2 possibilities

you can use a supplement for the valves that you add to fuel for this.

you can replace the valves with sodium filled and not worry about it anymore.

I recommend replacing the valves. since it is a flat head, it is not that bad of a job.
