Shift lock solenoid is working but the shift is still stuck

Customer Question

shift lock solenoid is working but the shift is still stuck in Park.
JA: Do you have brake lights? Have any trouble codes popped up?
Customer: The brakes work, but I have not checked for trouble codes.
JA: What is the model/year of your Ford?
Customer: 2007 Ford Explorer Sport trac
JA: Are you fixing your Explorer Sport yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I just started to trouble shoot the problem.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Was thinking of disconnecting linkage to transmission to see if problem is at the transmission or the shifter it self.
