have you had the transmission contol module interrogated for faults?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
If u mean pcm. I put a different one out of a running vehicle in it to c. Still nothing
Expert:  david craig replied 10 months ago.

no, i mean tcm.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Where is that? Between fender and firewall?
Expert:  david craig replied 10 months ago.

you need a more sophisticated scan tool for that though. a normal scan tool isnt capable of communicating with it.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
I have option of buying the ford program for it. Haven't bought it yet
Expert:  david craig replied 10 months ago.

The transmission control module is located under the truck on the cross member behind the transmission.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
I'm in truck with it idling. The engine Just came on
Expert:  david craig replied 10 months ago.

do this next, its a known issue ion these trucks. inpsect the OD cancel switch wires coming out of the shifter under the upper steering column shroud to see if there chaffed. This circuit controls the OD cancel switch and the throttle pedal.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Did that. The button never worked when I bought the truck. Last week I fixed it. The od comes on now when I push the button
Expert:  david craig replied 10 months ago.

ok well at this point you need the tcm scanned for faults.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
All I found on member was wiring harness. Would it be attached to side of transmission?
Expert:  david craig replied 10 months ago.

it should be behind the tranny...ill try to find a pic

Expert:  david craig replied 10 months ago.

well on this truck they refer to it as the multifunction control module. or GEM.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
it's behind fuse box?
Customer: replied 10 months ago.
I can't find anything that looks like the pic except the fuse box
Expert:  david craig replied 10 months ago.

im going to opt out and allow another ford tech to help you with this one. there seems to be alot of variances here. good luck

Expert:  Chris (aka- Moose) replied 10 months ago.

Welcome, I'm Chris (aka Moose), my normal schedule online is around lunch and after dinner past midnight.

Different tech here.

You mentioned the check engine light came on, any codes stored?

Are you saying you can apply full throttle and the engine does not respond at all, it just idles as if no throttle was applied?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
no throttle at all even with pedal to floor. No codes
Expert:  Chris (aka- Moose) replied 10 months ago.

Thanks,

Will your scan tool allow you to see parameters/pids meaning watch the readings from sensors?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
I don't think so. If I had the ford program then maybe. It doesn't show any codes at all
Expert:  Chris (aka- Moose) replied 10 months ago.

There wouldn't be a fuse relay that would affect it. Would there?
Expert:  Chris (aka- Moose) replied 10 months ago.

No there are no fuses or relays to cause this issue.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Ok. It will be this evening before I can do the scanning on the truck
Expert:  Chris (aka- Moose) replied 10 months ago.

No problem
