JA: Have you checked the brake fluid? How's the level and when was it last changed?
Customer: changed no idea, n level normal
JA: Are you fixing your F450 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: myself - fuses, brake switch pulled multi-function switch connectors look ok
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: how to test multifunction switch for proper brake operation

Welcome, I'm Chris (aka Moose), my normal schedule online is around lunch and after dinner past midnight.

Can I get the vin# ***** confirm your chassis so I look at the right diagrams?

Customer: replied 9 months ago.

Thanks, ***** ***** a 2006 E450 cutaway Econoline chassis.

  1. Confirm fuse 11 under the dash is good and powered.
  2. Confirm power on the LG/RD wire at the brake switch on the brake pedal
  3. Confirm at the brake switch with the brake pressed the DG wire is powered.
  4. Confirm the DG wire is powering the 39 under the dash
  5. Confirm the fuse 39 is powering the RD/LG wire at the multifunction switch
  6. Confirm the brake applied signal (power) flows through the multifunction switch and out on the LG/OG and OG/LB wires which powers the rear lamps.

If wire diagrams are needed, let me know.

from the diagram I was working off and in fact there was no fuse in 39. After inserting a fuse everything is working normally. an updated fuse diagram for the 2006 ( never checked the vin - just manufactured date - 05) would be greatly appreciated.
