My gear shift is stuck in park. I have attempted a manual

Customer Question

My gear shift is stuck in park. I have attempted a manual override with turning the switch to lock, removing keys, applying parking brake, applied pressure to access hole and shifting but it's not working
JA: Can you turn the steering wheel at all? And what about the key? Is it worn or damaged?
Customer: It is a 2007 Ford Escape XLT
JA: Are you fixing your Escape yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: The key is not damaged and I can turn the wheel
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: I have changed the 32 fuse and was going to replace the neutral safety switch bext Next but I can't get it out of the driveway now

Hi, I am Mike, welcome. I'm reviewing your question.

The brake shift lock is usually on the same circuit as the stop lights, so to begin make sure the brake lights work and let me know if they do or not.
