My daughters ford escape wont accelerate. It needs a service

Customer Question

my daughters ford escape wont accelerate. It needs a service but she doesn't drive many miles. I started it and it works fine. Oil and transmission levels are ok and tempature gauge is ok as well. Any thoughts?
JA: When was your last oil change?
Customer: The yellow engine light and tool is lit up.
JA: What year is your Escape?
Customer: 2008 Limited. I think in April. It's only a few hundred over and goes in tomorrow.
JA: Are you fixing your Escape yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: No. I'm taking it in to the local Ford dealer. She just told me about it. She was coming home from school and said she tried to accelerate and it wouldn't. She waited and then it was fine for a few blocks then happened again. I went and got it. Checked everything before starting. It didn't start as easy as normal.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: That's what I know now.

Sounds like the electronic throttle body is failing. But proper testing will need to be done with a scan tool for trouble codes. But we are seeing a lot of issues with these electronic throttle bodies lately.
