Customer Question

I have a 2001 f150 super cab, 4.6 188k on clock. timing chains were making noise. I changed timing chains, gears, tensioners, and guides. Timing was set on marks. when it was started without any accessories it sounded like a diesel, rattling. If you didnt hear the rattling you would not the was running, very smooth.

Make sure you have the gears on the crankshaft positioned properly. Because if they were installed incorrectly, the chains would be rubbing against each other. Also, make sure the trigger wheel on the crankshaft for the crankshaft pulley was installed properly and the teeth facing away from the gears and chains.
