I'm trying to to locate the brake shift interlock. The car

Customer Question

I'm trying to to locate the brake shift interlock. The car is in park but says its in reverse. I've turned it off and the parking brake is on.
JA: Have your brakes ever been replaced? Have you checked the brake fluid?
Customer: No and no
JA: What is the model/year of your Ford?
Customer: 2013 Ford Fusion
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes. I've had this exact problem with a car in the past so I immediately went to the manual to look for the interlock
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: The car won't start which I'm sure is because it says it's in reverse but that's it

The problem is not the brake shift interlock, that only releases the shifter out of park when the key is on and the brake pedal is depressed. The problem sounds like either the shifter cable is bad or the transmission range sensor in side the transmission has failed and will need to be replaced.

Can you give me the VIN# ***** the mileage on the 2013 Fusion.
