My 2001 Ford Expedition failed smog. The code is OBDII

Customer Question

My 2001 Ford Expedition failed smog. The code is OBDII NOTREADY.
JA: What specifically didn't pass the test? When was your last oil change?
Customer: Miles at change was 124860 due at 127860. I think it was 3 or months ago.
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I took the car to my mechanic and he changed the gas cap. He also turned off the check engine light and told me I need to do a drive cycle. I took the car to a smog place today hoping that maybe it would be okay but he also said I need to do a drive cycle. I have never done this before as I have never had the vehicle not pass smog.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: I don't know?
