2001 Ford Excursion 7.3 diesel, 4x4. noises after letting off throttle in O/D. Transmission rebuilt (Bulletproof).
JA: Have you heard this particular sound before?
Customer: Yes
JA: Are you fixing your Excursion yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes, but Had the trans rebuilt by a reputable trans shop.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Have not tried any other driveline work

Can you describe the noises?

If you disable OD so the highest gear is 3rd does this noise occur?

but not as much

More as a vibration associated with the noise as well

More noticeable during highway speeds at 50 plus mile an hour while letting off the throttle

Is this a continuous vibration or a brief one?

So far a converter clutch shudder, drive shaft joint locked up, or pinion angle issues are what looks to fit your issue best.
