Chris, I am trying to help my husband diagnosis our f250

Customer Question

Hi Chris, I am trying to help my husband diagnosis our f250 gauge cluster problems
JA: What year is your F250?
Customer: it is a 2003 F250, the gauges go wild from one end to the other, radio go off, windows don't work
JA: Have you checked the fuse?
Customer: I had him disconnect the od from the steering because in some cases that shorts out
JA: Are you fixing your F250 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: just the od switch disconnected, he has also checked fuses
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: There seems to be a whining when the gauges go off and the headlights seem to dim so my husband doesn't think it is just the cluster

Hi, my name is ***** ***** is usually caused by a bad alternator, have you checked the voltage when the gayges go crazy and see if it drops from 14 volts to about 12 or lower?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
there is nothing wrong with alternator. Husband feels it's between the alternator and the cluster. What is the hybrid battery saver I have read about
