2007 ford ranger, new battery installed less than 4 months

Customer Question

2007 ford ranger, new battery installed less than 4 months ago. turned off ignition, when tried to start, dash lights came on for a 1/2 sec, then all lights out. No clicking, no humming nothing. AAA came out able to give me a jump. ran a test starter works, alternator is charging but battery was drained. put battery on charge overnight, went to start, dash lights up starter solenoid clicked a few times, then all went dark again.
JA: Have you checked the fuses? The dashboard bulbs?
Customer: no, trying to get a fuse diagram now
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yes, nothing yet.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: didn't get to finish original message. after charge of battery & starting got another jump, engine turned over several times but would not start ( like not getting fuel).

Welcome, I'm Chris (aka Moose) I prefer to work when others don't, I am here around lunch and after dinner till after midnight.

So far this looks to be a bad battery, dirty battery connections, or a parasitic draw. Do you own a volt meter?

This is my 1st answer, but does not have to be my only answer. You the website and myself expect you to have a great experience with my help. Please let me know if you are pleased by selecting a star rating above or by replying and saying your pleased. Not rating or rating 1-2 stars does not benefit you nor me in any way. Thanks Moose.
