My 2013 Ford Escape is making a very loud clunking noise

Customer Question

My 2013 Ford Escape is making a very loud clunking noise while idling- just started today
JA: Where exactly do you think the noise is coming from? And how long has this been going on?
Customer: The engine- today
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Wondering what it could be? Husband tightened heat shield didn't help- thinks it sounds like a blown engine?
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: No
