Hi, my son has our escape in Philly and when he pushes on the gas it sputters. Its a 2006 and it has 120k miles
JA: Has the vehicle turned into a gas hog? And how does it start -- same as usual?
Customer: not sure- I will ask- him as I am typing
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: it is for certain that he has the AC on 24/7
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: nothing! I am in NH and he is in PA!

Hello, the first thing I would do is have the fuel filter replaced. Is there a check engine light on at all?

He hasnt said so

not using a lot of gas
starts normal

Since it was driving fine before all of the chugging I would replace the fuel filter. If it plugged up the vehicle will act just as you described.
