Customer Question

Hello, I have a 2000 Ford Excursion with the PATS system. It will not start. Replaced the starter solenoid and still nothing. Checked starter and it is working. Battery is fine. The only way to start it is to put a screw driver on the solenoid with the key in the on position and it fires right up. Only 136k miles and once i start it this way it runs fine. This happened a year ago and i did something with the PATS and it fixed it but I cannot remember the steps. Help, Very respectfuly Mike

I am also helping others. Sometimes it takes a few minutes. If the light goes out after 3 seconds the theft system is working correctly.

If you jump the starter solenoid for it to start then the starter solenoid isn't getting power. Do you have a multi meter?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i can start it by putting it into the position before start and placing a screwdriver on the solenoid
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i got a new solenoid and installed it and it still didnt start
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
no multi meter here

Correct because you are getting power to turn the solenoid on. The small wore going to the starter solenoid needs to have 12v in the start position to engage the starter.
