I need to change the headlight bulb on the drivers side of

Customer Question

I need to change the headlight bulb on the drivers side of my 1992 Ford Ranger.
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I watched a video and turned the inside piece around the light. I pulled back on the assembly part but all I got loose was the plug in part. No bulb at all,
JA: Just to clarify, what are the exact lights you're talking about?
Customer: I am replacing the headlight bulb itself but not the entire headlight set.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: The video says it should be easy but I can't get to the headlight piece!

I'm sorry you are having problems with your vehicle. I will try to help.I'm a full time mechanic and have been a mechanic for over 20 yrs and I work part-time here on JustAnswer to help you and others repair their own vehicles, and I get credited by your ratings.. So before leaving the site make sure and leave me a rating. You can still reply to me as many times as neeed, even after the rating.. I will need for you to be my hands and eyes since I'm not there. So after you disconnected the harness from the bulb, the black plastic ring will twist counter clock wise but only so far. Then you can pull both out the lock ring and the bulb. But it won't pull out easily. It is sealed in by an Oring on the bulb and at times takes some coercing. At times you can get the lock ring off then you just have to deal with the bulb.Let me know if this helps or if you have any questions. Thanks
