JA: Have you scanned the code? Have you tried to reset it?
Customer: i disconnected battery terminals a few days ago to replace spark plugs and coils and the light was off and came back on yesterday. Had it tested this morning.
JA: What is the model/year of your Ford?
Customer: 2005 ford f150/ 5.4L/ crew cab
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: i havent tried anything. i was going to just start taking the throttle body off and making sure everything is clean. not sure what else to do
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?

Hello and thank you for your question,

Because your truck is a drive by wire throttle control system the problem is very likely due to the fact you had the battery cable disconnected caused the PCM (computer) to loose the closed throttle values. The place to start is to disconnect the negative battery cable again and then take some carb cleaner and a soft cloth and try giving the throttle body plate and bore a good cleaning. After doing so, reconnect the battery and start the engine and allow it to idle for 15 to 20 minutes to allow the PCM to relearn the closed throttle values. Give this a try and see if the code clears and stays clear.

Ok...i removed the throttle body yesterday and used throttle body cleaner to clean it best i could. Throttle body plate and bore? Is the plate what the throttle body sets on? And where exactly is the bore?
Expert:  Ron replied 1 year ago.

The plate is the butterfly in the bore. The bore is the throat of the throttle body. Clean both and reinstall is and let it idle for 15 to 20 minutes and see if it resets.

Ok...i will try that. I was told to check for leaks in the vaccuum. Any tricks or hints to doin that? Ive nvr messed with them, how many different hoses are there to be checked?
Expert:  Ron replied 1 year ago.

To check for leaks you are going to want to inspect the hose in and around the intake area , In most cases if you have any leaks you will usually also have lean systems codes which you do not have so leaks are not likely.
