I have a Ford Taurus 2006, it seems that when I drive around

Customer Question

i have a Ford Taurus 2006, it seems that when I drive around a lot especially if I have my a/c running, when my car will hesitate or even sometimes jerk (not always) into first gear. i do believe I have a small exhaust leak, would that cause this to happen? I really am hoping I don't need to have the transmission fixed. I also don't know when the last time it had a transmission flush done.

how many miles on it ?

when was the last tune up ?

is there a check engine light on ?

the exhaust leak will not cause the problem you having unless the leak is at the exhaust manifold itself up by the engine , where the exhaust connects to the engine .
spark plug, coils mass air flow sensor , weak fuel pump , number of things could cause this

if there is no check engine light on than we need to do a fuel pressure test , vacuum test ,etc... to confirm .what is acting up under load ( basically when you have a/c on the engine will be under load ,that will show the hesitation )

are you looking to fix this yourself ?

please let me know

No. I am not going to fix myself. It has estimated 173 thousand miles, I just had a tune up about 2 months ago, changed spark plugs & wires, 2 weeks ago had oil change & filter replaced,

ok how about check eng light on now or no ?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Just came on yesterday
Expert:  Chad Farhat replied 1 year ago.

ok, well you can have it scanned at like advance auto or auto zone and get me the fault codes .

what worries me is the 173k trans no service , have you check fluid , is it bright red or dark brown or black color ?

Expert:  Chad Farhat replied 1 year ago.

do you experience in slippage at all on the trans shifting , especially under load or let say going up a hill, or taking off from an incline

does the rpm revs up and the car feels it is sitting still comparing to engine speed or moving slower than engine speed ? or only hesitation and jerking only when a/c on

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I haven't check the fluid. So I couldn't say. Maybe I'll go have it scanned as u said, then take it from there
