Customer Question

Hi Pearl. The problem I'm having with my F-250, 2002 - has started to run rough. Feels like it's fuel starved. Recently, the "check engine" light was going on and off, and now stays on. Went to the auto parts store to check the code - no code was picked up. Other than running rough, starts fine, runs fine at idle. Once throttle is added, runs rough, does not smoke. Any ideas?
JA: How many miles are on the car? Have you checked the spark plugs?
Customer: It's a diesel. 288,000
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes I am. Not sure where to start. I changed fuel filter.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: Just what my original message said
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Ford Mechanic about your situation and then connect you two.

Welcome, I'm Chris (aka Moose).

Does it act like there is a misfire?

Do you have a diagnostic tool that can monitor the ICP pressure?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No it feels more like its fuel starved. What is icp pressure? and I guess u can tell I don't have a diagnostic tool for that.
Expert:  Chris (aka- Moose) replied 1 year ago.

ICP is injector control pressure.

Do you own a digital volt ohm meter?

Is the fuel and air filter clean?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I do. I just changed both filters

Back probe the ICP connector dark blue/light green wire and monitor the DC voltage. Tell me what voltage you get while idling and when the issue is occurring.

When a post times out, that means its no longer on my active list (if you reply I never know it.) Let me help some more. Is there anything else you feel I could offer so you would be pleased with my help. I have the option to call you if that would be better.

Thanks Chris
