99 F350 Super Dually with v10 215k miles. Was running rough, would overheat under mild load, MPG went from 10 to 7, had a ping during acceleration. Then the sparkplug in the no. 4 cylinder blew out. ODBII reader showed P1401, P0171, P0300, P0307, and P0174. I fixed the spark plug using a heli coil. I replaced the thermostat and flushed the radiator, replaced the spark plugs, coils, fuel and air filters, and fuel injectors. ODBII reader showed P1401, P0171, and P0174. Replaced the DPFE sensor, and the hoses going to the DPEF, EGR valve, fuel pressure regulator, and MAF sensor.. I took a full can of break cleaner and emptied it by spraying every connection and seam in the engine compartment no apparent vacuum leaks. The MPG went up to 11. ODBII reader showed P0455, P0171, and P0174 Replaced 3 oxygen sensors (single CAT and exhausts), fuel pump (fuel gage did not work anyway), fuel cap, both rubber hoses connected to the fuel tank (looks like evap lines), and 3 rubber hoses that connect the solid lines on the frame to the engine (looks like evap lines). ODBII reader showed P0455, P0171, and P0174. I have checked and cleared the OBDII several times during this process. ODBII reader still reads P0455, P0171, and P0174. I have used 2 tanks of gas during this trouble shooting process. I am at a loss what to do next about the lean codes. … read more
