Hello, this is an older AOD model trans that had issues with the direct clutch drum for 3rd gear and overdrive. It sounds as if having the trans rebuilt cured the problem but you may have another similar failure in the trans. Make sure the throttle cable for the transmission is hooked up properly and moving properly. If not it can burn the direct clutch and cause this type of concern. Either way it sounds like the trans will have to come back out since it is isolated to one gear range. Make sure it is full of fluid and look clean, if it is brown/black and smell burnt it is definitely in the transmission
