Ive got a 98 f150 the temp gauge spikes red hot return hose

hi ive got a 98 f150 the temp gauge spikes red hot return hose cold resevoir fluid red hot and pressure built up i have changed out the rad., the water pump the thermo ...nothing i release the pressure in the resevoir and leave the cap just barely tightened it doesnt do it also runs in limp mode when it spikes ?????thanks bob

Hello and thank you for your question,

If the system is building excessive pressure and you are sure you have no trapped air in the cooling system then You may be dealing with a head gasket concern. The next thing you need to do is to perform a engine block test, its a fairly easy test to run and it will test for any signs of hydro-carbon in the cooling system. You can buy the kit to do the test at any auto part store. Its a chemical test and if the gaskets are leaking the fluid will change colors.
