Can I have the actual "p-code" associated with this?
Great, thanks. And is this the 3.9L or 4.2L engine?
The 8th digit of your VIN#. It's either a "6" or a "2"
Typing answer... hang in there...
Excellent! Thanks. Just so you know for the future... this is the 4.2L engine.
Ok. On this vehicle, the P0401 is a fairly straight forward code pointing to a problem with the EGR Module (click here for an image view). Inspect the electrical connector for any loose, broken or damaged wires. Inspect the EGR Tube (#3 in the image) and make sure there are no crack, holes or leaks. Inspect the vacuum line (#5 in the image) for any cracks, holes or disconnections. If the visual inspection checks ok, the EGR Module may need to be replaced. Make sure to clean out the ports behind the EGR during replacement. Try to get as much build-up out as you can. letting very little fall inside.
