I have a 1999 ford escort 2.0L SOHC. I replaced the starter and since I replaced the starter car is making whining sound. What could cause it to do this?

Any chance you can take a video of the noise? Does noise stop if you remove belt?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
How can I hear noise if not belt, nothing will turn. Noise does not have anything to do with belt as noise did not start until after I replaced starter.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I can tell you have no idea as this was a waste of money.

Hello, is the whining noise only when engaging the starter or the noise is all the time when running? It didnt have the noise before the starter replacement? Does it sound like it is coming from the engine or transmission area?
