My 2008 6.4 F350, has 260 k mile on it, and is leaking oil

Customer Question

My 2008 6.4 F350, has 260 k mile on it, and is leaking oil at the rear of the engine, and it has gotten pretty bad lately. Where might the leak be coming from, and how much will it cost to fix in California $?

Hello, have you looked at the oil leak at all? Does it look like it's coming from the top of the engine?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have looked at it, and it appears to be coming from some where between the edge of the oil pan, and transmition.

Not the top of the engine though.

At least I hope not!

Ok thank you. Does it look like it goes toward the front of the engine along the oil pan? If it does the front crankshaft seal is known to leak. That would send oil along the pan all the way back to the transmission. It's not as common but the oil pan can leak as well but doesn't happen a lot.
