I have a ford escape, 2013 year model. I know the button on

Customer Question

I have a ford escape, 2013 year model. I know the button on my gear shift is for the overdrive. However, I can not find in my manual how to tell if the overdrive is on. Since I drive where I am running at speeds 45 mph and higher I want to make sure its on. But I do not see any lights on the console when I press either symbol. How do I know if it is on?

Every time you start the engine the overdrive is on by default. You have to push the overdrive button to disable it. It should pop up an "OD OFF" message or symbol on the dash when you push the button. If the OD OFF indicator is not present, then the vehicle has overdrive active. If overdrive was turned off, then you would notice the engine revving a little higher than normal at freeway speeds (above 55 MPH).
