Customer Question

I own a 2002 King Ranch F 150, I had the computer replaced in 2012, since then the fuel pump fuse (15 amp) continued to blow about every 3-4 months so out of frustration the next time replaced it back in July I replaced it with a 20 amp. That one blew this past Thursday (Oct 29th). Help.

My name is ***** ***** I will assist you.

If the fuse keeps blowing, you are getting a overheat condition on the fuel pump or you have a short to ground in the circuit. With it being intermittent, it could be a fuel pump in the early stages of failure or the wires at the fuel pump could be loose, getting moisture in them, or there is corrosion at the connection.

I would check for all of these conditions at the fuel pump, which will be mounted in the tank.

Don't replace the fuse wit ha large amp one. It will burn up the wires and could create a fire. You are better off putting a circuit breaker in that will reset itself with just the turn of the key or it can reset itself when the circuit cools back down, if it is a fuel pump starting to go out.

I do have many workshop manuals, diagrams, etc that I pay to get access to out of my pocket. If one is needed, please ask and I will give
you an offer at my technician discounted cost to you for such manuals. I never charge above that cost.
