Is this the same reason you replaced the sending unit?
Where did you get the replacement part?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the fuel gauge was inop ( various needle positions regardless of fuel quantity). Local garage replaced sending unit, however, probable did not check wiring or continuity. What is the best option now?

Where are you A. Penland??????

The fuel gauge will need to be tested with a scan tool that can control the gauge. The instrument cluster is a module and there are no separate wires to test for it. You can ohm the wires from the sending unit to the cluster, but you will need long wires to go from the cluster to the gauge. Also, test the instrument cluster for codes for the sending unit.
