Ford focus: My 2007 ford focus has been making terrible grinding

Customer Question

My 2007 ford focus has been making terrible grinding sounds coming from the rear passenger side when I accelerate. The faster I go, the faster the sound repeats. Just today the car started shimmying and fishtailing while I was driving. I'm scared to take my car back on the interstate. Any idea what going on?

The description sounds like a bad hub bearing. When they go bad, they will make a roaring noise and get louder with vehicle speed.

It's not a roaring noise, it sounds like metal on metal, and it actually isn't as loud when I accelerate, but that may be because road and engine noise drown it out.

Grinding and roaring are about the same. But the noise changes with vehicle speed, and the Focus is own for bad hub bearings, have the rear hub bearings checked.
