Customer Question

I have a 2007 mustang gt. Three days ago I filled it up and drove 30 miles and drove back again. My wife later in the afternoon she drove it about 20 miles. In the morning she tried to start the car and all it would is crank over. Since then its been the same thing, not even a hint of fire.

Hello, my name is ***** ***** I am a professional here at Just Answer. I have noticed that your question was not getting a response and thought I would see if you still need help with this.I apologize for the delay and I hope I can still assist you with this here.
In order for the engine to start and run you need good spark, injector pulse and proper fuel pressure. If you can check each one of these things an post back with which one is lacking we can work from there to determine the cause. Also it would be very helpful if you can get the computer system scanned and see if there are any fault codes setting and post them as well.

Checked the gas for water. Checked good. Will not scan with the scanner because it has to be running to ckeck them. Checket fuel pressure . checked good. No spark at the plugs.
Expert:  Ron replied 2 years ago.
If the computer is setting any fault codes the scanner will pick them up with the key on, engine off.
Does the check engine light come on when you turn the key on and go out while cranking?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
No fault codes. Engine check light goes out when cranking. By the way th car has jus less thn 20,000 miles.

If the check engine light is going out then that means the PCM is seeing the signal from the CKP (crank sensor) and the PCM (computer) should be firing the coils. Are you getting power to the coils?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I didn't check but I checked 4 plugs for spark and nothing from any of them.
Expert:  Ron replied 2 years ago.
Well let see if you have power to the coils. The coils are controlled by ground switching from the PCM (computer) .

I will check and get back to you later.

Okay, Im here when your ready.

Well I checked the coiles, and there is no power to them. So Ichecked ground and found out that the ground is is ran through the computer for the electrical ststem. The conclusion that I came up with is that the computer module is bad. So I had to take it to the Ford dealer and had it checked. They did a computer analysis and checked checked basically everything that I had and could not get a ground signal from the computer. It came up with 2 fault codes that did not make any since. Bad computer unit.

I would agree, if you have power to the coils and no ground switching signal from the PCM (computer) then it has likely failed. The coils are fired by the PCM through ground switching.
