James, our radiator is fine thermostat fine we are going over

Customer Question

James, our radiator is fine thermostat fine we are going over to a diesel mechanic because these guys are suspecting a problem with a head gasket causing the engine to overheat causing the radiator liquid to. Overheat. Being as they are not a diesel shop they have sent us on and we're on our way but I was wondering if you had any ideas of what we should ask these guys to look at and how likely a head gasket problem is. If it's true, we would've replaced the radiator and a transmission for no reason at all. thoughts?

You are correct. Did you replace the transmission? Is the vehicle still overheating? Bad head gaskets won't cause a transmission to overheat though. It sounds like they are just throwing parts at your vehicle at this time. If this vehicle has an edge programmer or you have a scan tool you could drive and it can tell you exactly what the temperatures are and if one is going to be bad. This engine wasn't known for head gasket failure but anything is possible.
