Ford: I am looking at the same question pcv valve on

Customer Question

I am looking at the same question for the pcv valve on a 2003 explorer. The pcv valve has what looks like "grooves" for it to be a half turn to lock in. It isn't locking in and it keeps falling out.

Hello, is this a 6 or 8 cylinder engine? You are reinstalling the old pcv valve or having issues with the new one?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
The 6 cyl. Sohc. It seems stripped out in the manifold.

Issues with the new one

Ok I mean you took the orignal one out and now it wont go back in or you are having trouble with the new replacement one?
Expert:  HDGENE replied 2 years ago.
Ok is it an aftermarket one or ford and does the old one go in no problem?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I took the old one out, but it wasn't screwed in. It just came out when I pulled the hose. The new one doesn't seat and do the half turn to lock in. It just spins and falls out.

It is a motor craft. Same as what came out.

The valve cover is machined for a precise fit, if the old valve was loose, its possible a piece of the old one might be lodged in the valve cover. if not and its stripped out you would need to replace the valve cover

Ok. Thanks.

no problem not easy to see so use a mirror and inspect the valve cover port for the pcv for pieces of the old valve stuck in the bore.
