The car is a 2003 Focus SE, 2.0 L, 16 v, Zetec engine.
Hello and Welcome to Justanswer,
My name is XXXXX XXXXX I am here to try and assist your with your question.

The cooling fans are controlled by the PCM (computer) by a signel from the CHT ( Cylinder head temp sensor) located behind the alternator on the engine. The alternator has to come off to change it.

Thanks Ron,

Took a look at the engine. Replacing the sensor is probably more than I can chew with the belt and all. But, that is what I needed to know.
