1997 ford explorer headlight problem

This answer was rated:

have a 1997 ford explorer v8. the headlights are coming on by themself and staying on. until i take cable off battery. then will randonmly come on again, car doesn't have the running lights system or anyting. this just started recently and is really a problem. what could be the problems? the switch is in the off position also.
Hi, looking at the wiring diagram for the headlight circuit this problem could either be the main headlight switch or the high/low combination switch on the column. If the lights remain on with the main headlight switch disconnected I'd say that the combination switch on the column is bad. If the lights turn off when the main headlight switch is disconnected then your main headlight switch is bad.
