1997 Ford Expedition: much gas

Resolved Question:

1997 Ford Expedition 5.4L Eddie Bauer
- Truck will run fine initially then start sputtering then die.
- No matter how much gas its given it wont have any affect the truck eventually turns off.
- If I wait a while to start the car (let it cool down) then it will start up and drive and
eventually start the sputtering process all over again.

what about a camshaft or crankshaft sensor? a buddy thinks that might be an issue?
Expert:  JacobTD replied 5 years ago.
If that was the case there would be a check engine light. Take it to your local autoparts store and they shoudl scan computer for free. If a sensor was at fault it would have a related trouble code.
If you havent change fuel filter in awile, start here. Its really common.
