1997 Ford Taurus: drives..I checked the fuses and the horn fuse is ok.

Resolved Question:

My dad drives a 1997 Ford Taurus. THe horn does not operate. I checked the fuses and the horn fuse is ok. I wired the horn to the battery with a jumper wire and the horns both work when i do this. Is the problem a ground problem or a horn button problem. I also think that there may be a short between the steering wheel and the horn wire, The engine is a 3.0 v6

Hello and Welcome to Justanswer,

My name is XXXXX XXXXX I am here to try and assist your with your question.

Start with making sure you have a good fuse in the underhood fuse panel (#19) . If the fuse checks ok, see if you have battery voltage on the #1 and #3 pins at the Horn relay in the same fuse panel. See the enclosed diagram. graphic
