Ford focus Im replacing the trunk latch on a 2003 ford focus

This answer was rated:

I'm replacing the trunk latch on a 2003 ford focus sedan. How do I change the lock from the old latch to the new latch. It looks like it will just turn, but there seems to be a pin stopping it. Help?

Dieseljunky2 :

File down the liftgate lock cylinder housing to expose the spring and plunger

Using an M6 tap, cut a thread into the lock cylinder housing

  1. Install the liftgate lock cylinder.

  2. Install the plunger.

  1. NOTE: Use loctite sealer on the top two threads below the screw head.

Install an M6 by 6.5 mm screw to secure the plunger.

JACUSTOMER-omh9kkjz- :

It looks like the first image you have shows the lock cylinder housing after it has been filed, is this correct?

JACUSTOMER-omh9kkjz- :

Loctite has about 10 different kinds of sealer, is there a specific one that would work best for this application (by name or color). thanks?

Dieseljunky2 :

Yes, the first image is after filing, blue loctite is recommended. Thanks
