Does it turn over quickly, and sound more uneven than normal?

I'm afraid you have probably blown a head gasket due to the overheat. This causes a loss of compression and will make it sound like that. The engine will need to come apart to inspect for that. To verify is simple, just run a compression test on all 6 cylinders. If one or more are low that is the cause.
