1994 explorer: drivers side..other windows work.

This answer was rated:

1994 explorer driver's side window(electric) will not go back up. All other windows work. Went down ok @ bank drive up window, but will not go back up. Other windows will not work from time to time, but they all work now.

Hello my name isXXXXX does the window motor make any noises when the switch is depressed? Does the dome light dim slightly when the switch is depressed?

Customer:

no noise and light does not dim

Steve W :

Ok, try pressing the switch and grab the wiring in the flex joint and see if the window tries to work while wiggling these wires, also rap on the side of the door panel while the switch is depressed and see if the sudden jolt frees the motor and starts working.

Steve W :

Make sure vehicle is running = more battery voltage

Customer:

now none of the windows are working.

Steve W :

After wiggling the flex joint?

Customer:

what is the flex joint ?

Steve W :

where the wiring goes from the cab to the door

Steve W :

right by the hinges

Steve W :

does anything work with door open compared to door closed?

Customer:

battery went dead had to jump off all other windows r now workng but not the driver's

Steve W :

Do you have a test light?

Customer:

yes, i think

Steve W :

Did you rap on the door panel while vehicle was running?

Steve W :

Check yellow with red wire at switch when depressed, should light test light or have 12 volts.

Customer:

hit door window is now working thanks what would b the problem ? i got the window motor replaced 1.5 yrs ago

Steve W :

It could be a weak window motor, or the regulator could be worn where the gears mesh causing a bind, since the motor is not that old, I would remove the door panel and inspect the regulator and see if the gears look Ok.

Customer:

thanks

Steve W :

Thank you
