2000 explorer: 60 mph..Cars cranks right back up easily

Customer Question

my 2000 explorer starts shutting off after operating it for about an hour (or motor gets hot). It shuts off even when you are going 60 mph. Cars cranks right back up easily. I put on a new fuel pump & fuel filter because the fuel pressure gauge said it was losing fuel pressure. Some other computer they hooked up to it gave a reading of "lean".
But this didn't fix it. What can I have done to fix this problem.

Do you know the code number they got? If not stop at an Auto Zone and they will rescan it for free. Then let me know the code number.

Customer: replied 8 years ago.

No, I don't know the code #. I will get it for you.

Thanks,

patricia

Dear Sir:

The mechanic at the car dealership did not write down the code #. I called Auto Zone & they said the check engine light had to be own for them to do the test. My light is not on.

Sincerely,

pat

Hi Pat, they can still scan, codes are retained in the memory.
Customer: replied 8 years ago.

Ok, I'll tell them that & see if they will do it anyway.

Thanks,

Pat

The codes will be there, unless someone went thru the process to erase them...they should do it, it is a free service that is offered.

Hi,

The machine read:

troubleshooting P0455 &P0115. It also gave definitions, explanations & probable causes which I have,

ONE of the probable causes under P0455 was a missing fuel cap. My gas cap

was gone. I lost it. Bought a new one.

Thanks,

pat

P0115 does not exist on this model.
Customer: replied 8 years ago.

The man at auto zone printed it off & gave it to me. Should I go & get him to recheck it again?

I will be here all weekend.
Customer: replied 8 years ago.
They do have a Rally's auto. I stopped by there but they don't have a scanner. The emloyee told me that PO115 is a generic code that applies to all vehicles.
