At this point I would use a testlight to verify the injectors on those two cylinders are firing then do a compression test with engine running and compare bad cylinders to good ones to verify compression is good if injectors are getting good signal and compression is gooed then the injectors most likely are the problem but first check for vacuum leaks.

Possible Causes:

  • Base engine mechanical problem
  • Check for air leaks in the Air Induction system (e.g., in the intake manifold)
  • Check for air leaks in the EGR system and in its related hoses and/or valve
  • Check for air leaks in the PCV system and in its related hoses and/or valve
  • Fuel delivery problem (e.g., a contaminated, dirty or sticking fuel injector)
  • Ignition system problem (coil, plug)
  • Vehicle driven while very low on fuel (less than 1/8 of a tank)

it almost sounds like there could be a vaccum leak on the back side of moter by the egr but i cant find any hoses that are missin

Ford Mechanic: Dan, Technician replied 8 years ago

You can use carb cleaner to spray around the areas and if idle changes or the noise changes you know the leak is in that area. It could be a vacuum line, egr gasket, or intake gasket. Those are the main places I'd look first.
