At the Right Hand (RH) valve cover gasket connector, disconnect the harness from the valve cover gasket. Check the resistance on the valve cover gasket between pin 5 and pins 3, 4, 6 and 7. This will ohm each of the injector circuits. The resistance should be 2.5-3.5 ohms. If the resistance is high, remove the valve cover and inspect the Under Valve Cover (UVC) harness. If the connector is loose, install a locking clip to tighten the connection. The part number for the clip is #2C3Z-14A163-AB.
If the injectors ohm OK from the valve cover gasket connector, access the Injector Driver Module (IDM) inside the Left Hand (LH) fender and disconnect the harness from it.
To check the injector circuits on the right side of the engine from the IDM connector, first make sure everything at the valve cover is reconnected. Then put one lead of an ohmmeter to pin 24 Orange (OG), then place the other lead on pin 6 Tan, pin 21 Brown/Yellow (BR/Y), pin 8 Tan/Black (T/BK) and pin 20 Tan/Red (T/R). Each circuit should read 2-4 ohms and there should be no continuity to ground on any of the wires. If the injector circuits are not OK, ohm each wire from the IDM connector to the engine harness at the valve cover gasket.
If any of the wires in the harness show high resistance, check for problems at connector C138 (42 terminal connector near the LH valve cover).
If all circuits check OK, but the P1293 keeps returning, suspect an internal IDM problem.

So, more than likely you need to fix the harness under the intake. It's a very common problem.
