Hi. Does the truck even crank? Also when you turn the key to on, there should be a theft light that proves out. What does this theft light do? Prove out, or blink continuously while in run or trying to start.

Thanks, Eric

no crank at all, just a loud single click from the under the truck as well as click coming from fuse box on passenger firewall. have noticed though that all power goes off on truck after attempting to start. i.e stereo display disapears then comes back on??
Ford Mechanic: EricFromCT, Ford Technician replied 8 years ago

What about the theft light (if equipped)? How was the starter tested? And do you have a test light so we can check some circuits?

Thanks, Eric

well i have to put the starter back in, i had it tested at autozone the printout said it passed, did notice though that test did not dow results for the silenoid on the stater? but i do have a testlight. and i do have a factory installed alarm
Ford Mechanic: EricFromCT, Ford Technician replied 8 years ago

First, with the starter out, you can use your test light and make sure you have battery voltage on the big wire to the starter. This will have power at all times. Next you should have someone turn the key to start and hold it. While doing this check the small wire on the starter for power. It should only have power in the start position. If both of these tests pass, you need a starter. Let me know how this goes.

Thanks, Eric
