How do I replace the oil pan and transmission pan gaskets on a 2003 Ford Windstar?

The engine oil pan will need to have the exhaust dropped down to access to pan.

 

  1. Remove the dual converter Y-pipe.
  1. Remove the starter motor.
  1. Remove the drain plug and drain the engine oil.

Remove the bolt and the inspection cover.

 

Remove the bolts and the oil pan

The transmission pan gasket is simply removing the pan bolts and dropping down.

 

Remove the bolts, transmission fluid pan and gasket.

Can you include the relevant steps for removing the starter motor and the Y-pipe?

Remove the two dual converter Y-pipe-to-flex pipe bolts. Discard the flange gasket

  • Disconnect the LH dual converter Y-pipe bracket.

    Disconnect the RH dual converter Y-pipe bracket and remove the dual converter Y-pipe

    1. If necessary, remove the heated oxygen and catalyst monitor sensors, using the special tool.
    1. NOTE: Make sure to apply anti-sieze compound to the threads of the sensors prior to installation.

      To install, reverse the removal procedure.

    Disconnect the battery ground cable

  • Remove the bolts and lower the starter motor.
