2000 explorer: outside temperature..are not lighting

Resolved Question:

the outside temperature display and compass are not lighting on my 2000 explorer would it be a fuse or how can I fix this problem?

You need to remove the overhead console carefully after checking the fuse 10 under the dash if not bad. Once out unplug it and see if you have fuse power and illumination power and no resistance on the ground wire. If all of these are good then its a bad overhead console compass temp module. But there is a chance of fixing it, much cheaper than the 300$ replacement. Disassemble it carefully and look at the circuit board. There should be small black flat laying resistors. They often get loose or fall off and soldering them back down or replaceing them with radio shack parts will resolve this.
